Skateboard

Well I've seen many people redesign and reinvent the skateboard but this one is pretty cool and they have really cool board designs. They are local and from SF. The company is called mike and maaike and looks like they do product/experimental design and Mike from the duo helped design the XBOX 360.
On another note, the Bay has yet to be recognized as a influential city in the US like New York and I guess, LA and now even Miami. But really this place has a lot to offer to the world in art, music and business. We just gotta rep a little more, or something.

Coachella

Damn. Coachella is sounding pretty hot this year. I have never been but the line-up seems too tempting to pass up or maybe because I was really hoping to make this my first year there but can't do to circumstances that just came up. blah!
Well I'll see. So I really wanna see Bjork (of course), Interpol, the Arcade Fire, The Good The Bad & The Queen, Blonde Redhead (I missed them at RIOTT!), Marley bros, Ghostface, Pharoahe Monch, Manu Chao (what?!! I love his music), the Roots, Lily Allen, the Kooks, and maybe Lupe Fiasco too (him and the Roots is the only one I've seen live already).

Boba Fett 12"

I was looking one of the blogs I look at for my daily 411 called I like toys and seen this dope Boba Fett 12" toy coming out from Medicom. Its pre-orders start Jan. 25 but dropping June '07. It is kinda steep though at 156 big ones. The blogger at I like toys recommends the Hasbro Ultimate Jango Fett. See below for the cool packaging. Hmm...reminds me of the first G.I. Joes.

Anaconda!

So we all know about the huge AF1 Anniversary party that was incredible. And most have seen the hot new pair of 25th Anniversary Anaconda AF1's. If you've seen my previous post for the Art Imitates Art, here's another example. I believe it was early last year that these hot Loeffler Randall boots came out. They sold for around $700! and were on Forbes for one of, if not, the most expensive shoes. Hollywood so-called "it" girls were rocking them. I guess Nike too saw how hot white anaconda looks on the feet.

I love Norma Kamali!

I know I am a little late since Norma Kamali's Everlast line came out last year but I love her work. She was huge in the 80s and made a pretty sweet comeback. I especially like her green Cocoon cardigan. Oooohwee! Here's a quick bio:

Norma Kamali has teamed up with Everlast to reconstruct the absolute best of the '80s style she is known for. Taking sportswear to a whole new level, the designer is creating cutting-edge styles with modern silhouettes to make fashion as comfortable as it is versatile. Kamali insists that the women wearing her fabulous designs individualize each piece, and she makes it easy. Whether your style is classic or a little bizarre, you'll have fun with this collection.

Awesome Book

This book is incredible. I almost cried 3 times and stopped because I was on a Bart train. Its amazing and very humbling. I hope all will read and increase the awareness of the travesty going on in Southern Sudan and Darfur. The book is told in the voice of Valentino Achek Deng and his travels (mainly on foot) from his home in Southern Sudan (Marial Bai) across the whole country to Ethiopia and Kenya and then to the U.S. where he faces death, hunger, losing his fam, more death and most importantly love and friendship. Too bad I missed his tour in SF :(

Dave Eggers is an awesome author (and lives in the Bay). I am a big fan of his McSweeney's books. (Great book design too!)

The MOC

I've been wanting this moccasin that you can put together for a minute but never got around to ordering it. But now there are a few more to choose from. There's the old school Minnetonkas and then some other new ones I've spotted. The Camper ones (boo! no more brown available online though) and the pretty clean Marc Jacobs ones spotted on the runway lately. Pretty nice!

Girl Friendly Kicks

I have noticed that certain sneakers are more girl friendly than others. They have a more feminine feel. Like for example the Nike Rift, it is almost like a maryjane shoe but with an athletic feel. Even Halle Berry got to make her own. The main characteristics is the delicate sole (not so chunky like the AF1, though I own a few who have not left the box) and a simple clean design. I know I am not the only one who thinks so because a lot of these are made more in womens' sizes and I see lots of girls sporting them and not looking to tomboyish. That said, I still buy others especially if they look hot! (even though I might not were 'em, for sentimental value of course.)

Roc, Not to shabby.

Though I don't own any cuz I don't think I could Roc it right. You know kids nowadays with their Spongebob or Spiderman backpacks and a Sidekick or any other myspace enable device they might have. On the contrary though, I noticed ya boy Jigga has stepped his game up and his line is looking pretty good. I even saw him sporting it on the ellen show this week. He's up on the chain gang bandwagon too.

Spectators!

I have been looking everywhere for some nice looking spectators. I first seen them in white patent, I think, at Anthropologie.com which they then disappeared and replace with some $300 gold ones. Then I seen them at the Viktor & Rolf for H&M fashion show. And to seal the deal I seen them on the Sartorialist blog (which I check on the daily). I googled everything from spectators to oxfords to wingtips and many more. Finally found them in beautiful white and my favorite and only sister copped them for me for Christmas. Of course I later seen more at the Office store but whatever. I am happy I got them, just gotta figure out how to wear em.

Pharrell x Louis Vuitton

Not sure if these are old or new. But I never seen them. These are the sunglasses that Pharrell did for Louis Vuitton. Kinda out there but so is he. I love the red ones. They kinda resemble the lovely Marc Jacobs' and Tom Ford's shades. All equally dope.
